How we ranked

• Ingredient transparency — pure soy wax (no paraffin or wax blend) and named certifications: phthalate-free, vegan, cruelty-free, lead-free wick.
• Manufacturing transparency — a named USA city/state and an explicit hand-poured, small-batch claim.
• Independent review signal — Etsy review volume and average rating, weighted toward a high sustained average rather than volume alone.
• Entry price — cost of the cheapest format (often wax melts), as a proxy for how easy the brand is to try before committing to a full-size jar.

These are our own weights, not a formula anyone else has to agree with — a brand that leans harder on fandom licensing than on ingredient disclosure, for instance, could reasonably rank differently under different priorities.
